Here we go……something that I have always wanted to do since I was little and watching my Uncle Pete developing prints in the utility room, we used to stay up together for hours on a friday night while he developed shots and I just watched and got tired. (I was only young)
Anyway, we are going away to the Lakes on holiday for a week in June and I am finally going to shoot and develop my own film!!!! I have the use of my Uncles Bronica SQ-a and last night I bought some Ilford FP4 125 ASA 120 film to shoot with.
I am looking forward to it to say the least. My uncle and I have been talking about what we are going to do and the plan is to take light readings and shoot the film as if it was 160ASA and also to develop the film as though it was 160ASA. I have been told that this pushes the film to create higher contrast, sounds exciting
I have decided that even if the prints do not come out as I have them in my minds eye, I will have more pride in these ‘flawed’ shots than any on my favourite digital shots, manipulated or not in Photoshop….these photographs will have been taken by me, and developed by me (Also with mistakes made by me no doubt)
Anyway, when i have some results, I will scan them in and get them up here on this Blog, lets see what results we get!!

Not much to tell you really, been writing a lot of proposals today for a forthcoming trial which I am running in Kuwait due to take place at the end of July and mid September………not going to be much fun but should provide some good photo opportunity, let’s see
Here’s a shot of, well, nothing super arty…..it’s my hand, taken with the Hipstamatic application on my iPhone 4 this afternoon in my office. Took it with the Lucifer IV lens and the Black Keys Supergrain film and really boosted the contrast in the shot to give it a really gritty look…..might even put this on my Flickr
Ooohh talking of photo sharing websites, I have just signed up for 500px.com this morning….do or are any of you on this website and have you any hints/tips for using it? My nametag on 500px is the same as my Flickr if anyone is interested…..AndyH1983
Thanks
Industrial Action
There’s something about industrial shots, which I always find grab my attention, I’m not sure what exactly it is, because they definitely aren’t beautiful in the conventional sense of the word, but maybe they are more fascinating…….yes that’s it, I’m an Engineer by trade, and engineering has always fascinated me
Anyway, these are Chlorine spheres which should be ‘white’ as you can see from the sphere second from the left in shot which has recently been re-painted. The spheres are surrounded by fire protection to provide cooling water in the event of excesssive heat, as chlorine can be extremely dangerous!! Over time the fire protection has corroded and sprayed the rusty water over the ‘white’ spheres which have become red over time
More idustrial shots inevitably to follow over time…..keep your eyes peeled
Not much to report from the weekend really…..went to a couple of birthday parties on Saturday, one 18th and a 3rd birthday
Sunday took the dog out for a walk in the pouring rain of our wonderful England and this is a shot of my Fiancee as she had just gotten out of the car. We got absolutely drenched on the walk around the Beacon with some friends and their dog, but the dogs seemed to like it and they slept VERY well
Here is my first picture / photo post…….a shot of mine taken on a recent holiday with my Fiancee in Aberaeron in West Wales, this is my second attempt at a long exposure using a welding glass filter to achieve the long exposure (165 seconds if memory serves me correctly)
I wish I could say that this was the long awaited first post like I had something that was well worth sharing, but truth told, I dot really know what I’m doing here and ironically I’m not even using the computer for my first post as the Internet has just gone down
Anyway……..I’m a keen amateur photographer and full time engineer and I’m going to try and use my little slice of the Internet here, to share with you guys the photos I take and how I took them, you never know, oneday somebody may even read this!!
I suppose that’s it from me then for mow that I have told you what I want to do with this little site, and plus I don’t really know how to do much more with it at the moment…….so until I figure it all out, see you soon
